Four years ago, I was casually watching the annual Teen Choice Awards like I would any other year. Little did I know I was about to add yet another boy band to my roster of artists. This group was relatively new, having had only one song released. They got on stage to perform and to my surprise, apart from solely singing they also had choreography to display to the audience. This new dancing-singing boy group was PrettyMuch.
PrettyMuch is a 5-member group composed of Brandon Arreaga, Austin Porter, Nick Mara, Edwin Honoret, and Zion Kuwonu. Their sound can be described as a mix of both Pop and R&B, with past boybands such *NSYNC being a huge influence in both their dance and music. The five members of PrettyMuch were pursuing their individual solo careers on social media before Simon Cowell (founder of Syco Music) sought out each of them and decided to fuse them into a boy band.
The same year they were formed, PrettyMuch were the opening acts for artists Jack & Jack. In 2018, they were also openers for Khalid's Roxy Tour. That same year, the 5-members embarked on two of their very own tours, PrettyMuch Everywhere Tour and Funktion Tour. In the following year, they had their FOMO Tour, ranging all across the U.S. and Canada. Before COVID-19 hit, they had been revealed to be apart of Camila Cabello's The Romance Tour, which was later cancelled. For the rest of the year, they did not release any music and it was later revealed that they had signed to Sire Records.
Once having signed with the new music label, the boy band announced that new music was coming our way. Smackables Deluxe was released on February 26, 2021 with lead singles "Stars" and "Lonely". Today, with 5 EPs and 21 singles under their belt, PrettyMuch has been excited to share their music with their fans and I personally cannot wait to see what else they will bring to the table.
I have to say, "Corpus Christi" is definitely my favorite track from Smackables Deluxe and has been on repeat ever since it was released. I am looking forward to more releases from PrettyMuch!
